Hiking for CFF

Genevieve and Meg on their first hike.

We are two cousins from Virginia who sat down a few months ago and decided to do something crazy. (Well… at least we thought it was crazy, considering the fact that Genevieve had just had knee surgery, and Meg hadn’t trained for anything since her days of high school swimming.) We committed to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Xtreme Hike event, where each of us will hike 31-Miles on the Massanutten Trail at the end of September.

The purpose? To test our physical ability and spread awareness for the mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. In doing so, we also agreed to raise $5,000 for that mission, so that one day we could hike 31-miles “just ’cause” — as there would be no more need to raise money for CF since a cure would be found.

As you might imagine, you don’t just get up one morning and hike 31 miles without some intense training. Training started in June and leads up to the day of the event.

So that’s where this blog comes in. It is dedicated to “tracking our trek,” so to speak. Each time we hit a trail, we’re blogging about our experience. If you’re a hiker yourself, maybe our little tid-bits will come in handy as you plan for your next weekend hike. And if you’re not, we hope that you find our journey interesting. And maybe even a little inspiring.

After perusing, should you feel so inclined, we do hope you’ll consider making a donation on our behalf to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Visit our Fundraising tab to learn more. Thank you in advance for your contribution!Xtreme Hike for CFF
